The game is being helmed by Greg Foerstch, former Art Director of XCOM 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Set during the High Republic era, Star Wars Eclipse is an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands, created in collaboration between Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games. The third Star Wars title in development at EA is a strategy game, currently in development through a production collaboration between Respawn and Bit Reactor. Perhaps the most intriguing game in development right now is Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse. The game is currently in development at Massive Entertainment, the Sweden-based studio behind The Division franchise and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game. When Lucasfilm Games announced they were opening up the doors to new developers who want to play in the Star Wars sandbox, one of the first games to be announced was Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars game. We don’t know much about this game right now, but Hirschmann did hint that he’s “always been inspired by the classic Star Wars titles Dark Forces and Dark Forces II.” Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars EA had released two Battlefront games, the most recent coming in 2017. Hirschmann is a former VP of development at LucasArts and served as executive producer on the original Battlefront games. Respawn is also working on a new Star Wars first-person shooter with Peter Hirschmann as game director. It was only announced for PS5 and PC, although it was later confirmed as a console exclusive at launch, which means it’s probably also coming to Xbox at some point as well. The KOTOR remake is being “completely rebuilt from the ground up” for next-gen consoles and PC. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RemakeīioWare’s critically acclaimed Star Wars RPG, Knights of the Old Republic, is being remade by Aspyr Media, the developer behind recent ports of Republic Commando and Jedi Academy. Still, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a solid single-player action adventure and hopes are high the sequel will live up to expectations. ![]() Ultimately, it was too little too late as Lucasfilm ultimately opened things up to other studios. The original Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in 2019 and restored some fan faith in EA’s ability to handle the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is currently in development at Respawn - the same studio behind the original game - with Stig Asmussen returning as game director. In this third-person combat game, players will mix and match teams of unique Hunters and take part in high-stakes competitions in The Arena. Quantic Dream has yet to confirm the reports that it's developing a Star Wars title.Also arriving this year is Star Wars: Hunters, a free-to-play team-based multiplayer (4v4) game for Nintendo Switch and mobile. The game will, instead, have more traditional action-adventure gameplay, with an open-world environment, and multiplayer elements. The Star Wars game is purportedly different from Quantic Dream's other, quick-time event games such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. Platforms haven’t been confirmed yet, either, but we expect Star Wars Eclipse to land on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC at the very least. The rumours surrounding Quantic Dream's next game began circulating in September with reports suggesting that the game has been in development for 18 months. Star Wars Eclipse is a narrative-driven action-adventure game from Quantic Dream. January 2021 marked the beginning of the new Star Wars era and saw the introduction of new stories spanning across books and comics, as well as introducing fans to a new cast of characters, including Jedi. The High Republic era takes place around 200 before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and 800 years after the fall of the Old Republic. Grubb went on to explain that Star Wars Eclipe is "ready to be announced soon" and fans can expect an official announcement "before the end of the year." He also said that he isn't certain of the details but he does believe that it's set during the High Republic era.
